What a wonderful experience, An Australian Maltese spending a few weeks in her parents’ hometown… why not? Also why not experience an amazing week celebrating & shooting the fashion in Malta & abroad. The weather & atmosphere really added that fresh feeling to the designer looks.
I wanted to recap on all the lovely fashion that stood out to me. Laying out all my favorite pieces and what went on during Fashion Week. Just makes you want to jump on board again next year.
A massive thank you to Adrian J Mizzi, Pierre Mizzi & their amazing team for having me on board as a photographer. An amazing job was accomplished and Malta Fashion Week was a success. Was wonderful to be involved and hang out with some cool industry people.
DAY 1 – SATURDAY
Valletta isn’t just an amazing city, it is the capital of Malta. The perfect platform to launch MWFA.
The Runway was cranking with the iconic followers, photographers, bloggers, fashionistas & celebrities.
There were a few standout outfits go over, some eye openers especially for new designers.
DAY 2 – SUNDAY
THE POINT SHOPPING MALL FASHION SHOW
Everybody loves seeing new concepts and established brands that showcase the future seasons. The brands that were shown are Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Massimo Dutti, Tommy Hilifiger Shoes and Accessories, Guess, Gant and Lacoste, Aldo, Sunlab, Lui-Jo, Mango, Boux Avenue, Mvintage, Urban Jungle, Springfield, Nike, Terranova, Pull & Bear, Garbo, Calliope, Adidas, Sketchers, Punt Roma, Oysho, Orsay, Stradivarius, Bata, Debenhams, New Look, Bershka, Esprit and River Island.
DAY 3 – MONDAY
THE SECRET GARDEN – HEADPIECES BY ADALIA B.
Adalia Bonnici Bonanno showed off her hat selection. Colourful & vibrant, outfits that complimented the pieces. In Australia we have Melbourne Cup where these hats are worn & there are even competitions on the best outfits. The possibility of having these hats in Australia? Why not?
ROSITA SILK SENSE PRESENTS JOIE DE VIVRE
Her main concept was to create silk scarves that outlast the burdens of washing, guaranteed to stay bright and colourful. Watching the cool breeze take these scarves to the next level. The colours lit up the night.
ANNA ROMYSH HAUTE COUTURE 2017 COLLECTION
This has to be one of my favourites, such a soft spot for Wedding gowns due to Wedding photography. The lace & fabrics used were just splendour. They really came up nice in photos. There was no secret every woman in the room wanted to wear a dress from the collection & possibly the chance to marry again…. Just to walk down the aisle in one.
GAETANO PRESENTS NYMPH COLLECTION
I love dresses but at night they come alive. I chose to shoot them differently and explore their textures. I love when the wind gets hold of the fabric and makes the dress fly into the night. Feminity captured as well as being seductive and sophisticated. Gaetano’s outlook on his collection. On point!
DAY 4 – TUESDAY
I could not look away, the representation of minimal yet cheeky. Some pieces really were cheeky.
It made the outfits stand out as with songs playing in the background by Crux
INTUNE BY CLAUDIA GOAGARA PRESENTS INTERLUDE
The thing I noticed first before the gorgeous dresses arrived… was the soundtrack.
I have a deep appreciation for classical music and it was so entwined with the dresses, shooting and swaying to the music was a must
I adored the textures, the floral detail & the fabrics used. Details. Details. Details.
DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY
CARLA GRIMA ATELIER PRESENTS OPHELIA S/S 2016
These pieces were breathtaking in their own right, every woman wants to go to the beach or café but having these as a cover is sophisticated and it can be worn at night too. The colours were gorgeous!
DÉSIRÉE EXCLUSIVE ART ON SHOES EXHIBITION
Talk about bold. I loved the detail on these shoes. Shooting them at night really bought out the colour and detail. Why not be different if you can. Some say shoes are the first thing someone notices about you!
FREEZE FRAME PRESENTS PUNK BY SEQUIN
Shut the gates. The fabrics used for this runways really stood out. They came out in my images so clearly… I was seeing Studio 54 all over again with a new element of rock.
RITIENNE ZAMMIT PRESENTS JE SUIS AW16
One word. Cats. I loved the cat surprise. Very S&M of a matter of fact. Collars, mouth covers… very intriguing. The slightest bit of rain didn’t stop the crowds. Another love is the quotes used on the accessories.
LILLY MAE PRESENTS ELENA MIRO, MARINA RINALDI & BASLER
I was delighted to see a runway with curvy women. Coming out in colours & wonderful fabrics. Loving the woman confidence in this show.
DAY 7 – FRIDAY
Okay… you got me. As I stood to shoot with my fellow photographers, nothing prepared me for the influx of beauty. That is men in suits. Structured tailoring, structured jaw lines. I am pretty sure all women can vouch they didn’t know where to look! However my job was through the lens and that I did. I think I am still recovering from the luxury of the brand… Men you had your fair share of women this week on the runway, it was our turn.
MILICA TRICKOVIC (FROM SERBIA) PRESENTS HUNTER
The Hunter collection was a wonderful way to capture the woman’s body. I get addicted to fabrics especially when they shine. Blue just happens to be my favourite colour.
